We are being blackmailed.

The perpetrator, who has an Arabic first name, is demanding payment of a five-figure sum, otherwise he will send his access data for our servers, domains/URLs/IP addresses to our servers, and other internal information to Snap Inc. – the operator of the Snapchat platform. He wants Snap Inc. to sue us for damages and initiate criminal proceedings against us.

He has also announced – literally – that he will "spam" certain internet forums "daily" to destroy our reputation and cause us significant financial damage. He announced that he will add manipulated material and a typical fraud-style description to it. He will claim that we are defrauding customers, that our services don't exist, and that he has never been able to use our services. On the other hand, he has used our frontend and backend servers more than 2,000 times.

He has already sent us manipulated screenshots (photoshopped) and text messages depicting dialogues that never occurred. We therefore assume that he will also send similarly manipulated screenshots, videos, and text messages to Snap Inc. and the internet forums.

He has ignored our warnings about the criminal relevance of his blackmail, threats, false claims of criminal activity, publication of protected personal data, etc., and the subsequent civil claim for damages. Even the involvement of our law firm and the regional State Criminal Police Office has not brought him to his senses.

What has happened so far?

The perpetrator, with an Arabic first name, regularly rented our SaaS-based bot service for Snapchat at a significantly reduced price, for a 30-day subscription only. During this time, one of his family members/friends/partners announced to us that he would use hacked (phished, cracked) Snapchat accounts for the aforementioned perpetrator in our system in the future. The use of illegally acquired accounts not only violates our Terms of Service (ToS) but also applicable European Union (EU) law and constitutes a criminal offense. An audit of the Snapchat accounts imported by the perpetrator revealed anomalies, resulting in the perpetrator's access being restricted in June 2025.

A central import routine for new Snapchat accounts had to be globally deactivated for all existing customers for several weeks. Furthermore, our C++ developers had to implement several security checks in an expedited process to technically prevent further misuse. Both measures not only resulted in significant development costs in the high four-figure range, but also caused damage to our honest customers due to the unavailability of the account import for all customers.

The law firm we hired advised us not to disclose the extortion details to avoid potential copycat attacks. Instead, they recommended that we notify our honest customers of "unscheduled maintenance work". We have followed this recommendation to date (September 13th, 2025).

The perpetrator became increasingly abusive over the months, wrote numerous personal insults, and eventually began extorting money from us. The total sum continued to rise (currently a large five-figure amount).

We were forced to repeatedly extend his originally booked 30-day subscription free of charge, currently until October 13, 2025, in order to calm him down and prevent him from reporting the incident to Snap Inc. (see above) and in the internet forums (see above).

He has used our frontend and backend servers well over 2,000 times since May 2025.

The total damage to date amounts to more than US$ 200,000. The additional costs for the free extension of his subscription until October 13, 2025, amount to US$ 7,880. The costs for engaging our law firm (see above) amount to € 5.990 (approximately US $7,440).

We had to take several servers offline to prevent the impending damage caused by Snap Inc.'s actions. This affects more than 30 servers at five different data center locations.

We are now forced to build a completely new server structure, consisting of frontend, backend, importer, dispatcher, and scheduler servers.

We have decided today (September 13, 2025) to inform the public about this matter, as we received three more emails today containing further blackmail, threats, and insults. We will inform the regional State Criminal Police Office separately.
